NewsTok.ai: Mobile App case study

The problem

News is spread across dozens of sources and languages, and most of it is too long to read on the go. NewsTok gives people credible, short news briefs, curated, summarized and translated by AI, in one app.

What I built

A multilingual news aggregator for Android and iOS, built in Flutter from one codebase.
Podcast and YouTube Shorts playback inside the app, so people could switch formats without leaving it.
Engagement and monetization: Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications, Dynamic Links for sharing, and AdMob and AppLovin ads.
The website: first in Flutter Web, then migrated to Astro JS on Cloudflare for better SEO and performance, with Google Ads for monetization.
An automated CI/CD pipeline with Codemagic that released Android and iOS builds at the same time.

My role

As Software Developer I built and shipped the mobile app and the website, and owned the release pipeline for both stores.

Impact

50,000+ combined downloads on the Play Store and App Store, with a 4-star rating.
A faster, search-friendly website after the move from Flutter Web to Astro.
One pipeline for both stores, so every release reached Android and iOS together.
