What it is
UNIZONE is a full-featured social media app for Android, built with Java and XML.
What I built
- Social graph: follow and follow-back.
- Content: post sharing, moments (stories), likes and comments.
- Real-time chat and a live feed using Firestore, so new messages and posts appear instantly.
- Comments with threaded replies, plus search for people and posts.
- A browser built into chat: look up a term from a conversation without leaving the app, with Google voice search and a desktop-mode switch.
What I learned
Building every piece of a social app myself, from the data model to real-time updates, taught me how feeds, chat and notifications fit together, which I later used in production apps.
